Short term housing

Finding short term housing is not hard in Silicon Valley.  The valley sees a lot of professionals drop in for short periods to crash and burn on a particular project and then be off.

Long term stay hotels for short term housing

The Embassy Suites features plenty of room for both rest and work or relaxation, and there are several of these scattered throughout Silicon Valley. In normal years, they provide a great breakfast and in most locations also evening munchies during cocktail hour. The hotels tend to have places for exercise (pool, workout room), and good sized lobbies if you need to meet someone there in person. This is one of my favorite places to stay when traveling.

The Marriott Residence Inn is a wonderful place with comfortable short term housing accommodations, good food (normally – during COVID it’s very restricted), wireless internet, plenty of parking etc.   The one closest to Los Gatos is in Campbell (San Jose border) on Bascom Avenue.  There are others in Milpitas, Los Altos, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Fremont, South San Jose, Morgan Hill and I’m sure elsewhere too.   It is not the least expensive option, but in my opinion, it’s one of the easiest and most pleasant places to be.  The suites are fabulous. The Residence Inn is another of my personal favorites.

Longer stays in apartments, guest cottages, etc.

For longer but not permanent stays, there are many corporate, furnished apartments where breakfast or evening appetizers and drinks may be served (in normal years). The best known is probably Oakwood – check them out at   www.oakwood.com.

If you are looking for a few months’ stay, but not long enough to bother furnishing your own place, you might try an Air B & B or even a VRBO listing.  Furnished homes, short or longer term: https://zeusliving.com/  Other options could include renting a room in someone’s home.
